This versatile load plate is designed to span the rear windows or window panels on the side of a T4. The plate fits neatly between the body side just above the window line and the body panel just above the main horizontal body line. The stainless steel plate is shaped to sit closely over the body profile while providing sufficient stiffness to carry loads up to 10???Kg.

The load plate has a range of holes designed to allow flexible mounting of accessories and equipment by strapping or bolting.

This item comprises a single load plate supplied without fixings, however, multiple load plates can be stacked side-by-side to achieve a greater load area.

Vehicle requirements

The load plate is designed to be installed externally on the rear outed body panels of VW T4 vans or campers.

Installation

The load plate is designed to be fixed to the van body at the upper and lower edges. We do not supply fasteners with the plate to allow you to select the best fixing method for your vehicle.

Two fixing options are possible:

  • Fit M8 Rivnuts to the body panels and then bolt the plate to the body panels using two M8 fasteners top and bottom.
  • Rivet the plate to the vehicle using five 4.8mm diameter stainless steel rivets and a layer of adhesive (such as Sikaflex 522 or C-TEC CT1) between the plate and the body.

It is essential that you ensure that that the plate is securely fastened to the vehicle!

CHECK AFTER FIRST USE: After your first journey with the product fitted, check all fixings to ensure that all are tight. Check vehicle fittings and panels around mounting points to ensure that there are no signs of stress or deflection on the vehicle.

ONGOING CHECKS: Once every month and before & after long or aggressive journeys check all fixings to ensure that all are tight to the torque settings originally applied. Check vehicle fittings and panels around mounting points to ensure that there are no signs of stress or deflection on the vehicle.
